Georgetowner Newspaper, In Country Section,
from the Downtowner Editor's Notes December 16, 2009.
"To our beloved readers, may we offer this holiday a sweet nugget of literary endowment: The Downtowner newspaper (published by the Georgetown Media Group) is pleased to introduce the newest contributor to our In Country section, Patricia Lipe.
"Ms. Lipe, A D.C. native, is entwined with the heart and history of our neighborhood. Tracing back several matrilineal generations on the banks of the Potomac, she grew up reading memoirs of her ancestors as they lived through the development of modern day Georgetown. However, not one to sit still, Ms. Lipe has spent time all around the world. Having studied philosophy in Belgium, raised horses in California, and taught English in Universities up and down the East Coast, she is a true and unbridled Renaissance woman. Mr. Lipe's articles and stories have been published in magazines and journals throughout the country. Her four books range in subject from love in post-industrial era Paris to the evolutionary journey of man and nature. Her book, La Jolla, A Celebration of its Past, was the winner of the San Diego Book Awards Association 2002. Keep an eye out for her upcoming novel, due out next year.
"All of us at The Downtowner welcome Patricia Lipe to our contributing writing staff. We are sure that you will enjoy her words as much as we do."
